The Satanic Temple (based in Massachusetts with
approximately 20 chapters across the U.S. and even more
expanding on a global level), lists its seven fundamental tenets:
-
Strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all
creatures in accordance with reason.
-
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary
pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
-
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will
alone.
-
The freedoms of others should be respected, including
the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach
upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.
-
Beliefs should conform to our best scientific
understanding of the world. We should take care never to
distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
-
People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do
our best to rectify it and resolve any harm that may have
been caused.
-
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire
nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion,
wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written
or spoken word.
Here's an interesting experiment...read out these statements
(listed above) to some individuals, and have them guess what
religious group or philanthropic organization holds these as
their seven fundamental tenets. DO NOT tell them that you
want to talk to them about Satanism or Christianity or anything
like that, because such things would lead them to think a
certain way and create a bias. Just read it to them and
see how they respond...
Even without running the experiment, what you would encounter is
fairly predictable. Most people will NOT think of
Satanists when you read to them the seven fundamental tenets of
Satanism. Ironically (and quite disturbingly), you are
going to find that many people will identify these Satanic
beliefs as CHRISTIAN. True, some may think of a non-profit
organization, or they might guess this seven-tenet belief system
came from New Age or Buddhist or Islamic sects, but Satanists
will almost surely be the last thing on their minds!
Now do another survey....but this time, simply ask, "When you
think of Christians, what words, feelings, images, and thoughts
come to mind?" Then take note of what they say.
(Make sure you also ask this question to NON-Christians,
otherwise you'll receive biased responses).
See how many people reply with negative views of Christians, in
contrast to those who may see them favorably and say something
such as, "People who love one another."
Now pick up a Bible and read John 13:35.
Next, go to Google and type in the search phrase, "Satanists
more loving than Christians?" and see what kinds of articles,
news reports, blogs, and so on, pop up as results. Take
your time to browse the material and get a good idea of what
people are thinking, feeling, and saying.
You will find that the growing trend in society is Satanists are
becoming more and more known as people who actually love.
And Christians? Well...anything but that.
In fact, you'll hear people say that Jesus and Satanists have
quite a bit in common because they're both loving, unlike
Christians.
Let that sink in for a moment...
If you are reading this and you are a Christian, and you are now
sad, shocked, frustrated, upset, confused, indifferent,
heart-broken, ashamed, angry, fed-up, irritated, offended, ready
to debate, or, more importantly...
...ready to DO SOMETHING...
....are you willing & able (& disciplined enough) to
contribute only one minute every month to the cause of Jesus
Christ? One minute every month to help others obey Him?
(John 13:34) One minute every month to share His love &
prove to everyone that we (NOT SATANISTS!) are REALLY His
disciples? (John 13:35)
No more words.
